Curriculum Night 2018

Parents –

I am sorry that my coaching duties conflict with Curriculum Night this year.  Please know that you are in good hands.  Several of my 5th period students who are also in our Skyline Link Crew have volunteered to help give the overview of ToK and to guide you thorough the process of reviewing your student’s journal for the year.

Please take some time to both review your son/daughter’s work and to write a quick note of inspiration to them on the sheet provided.  On it are some ideas about what to look for as well as some encouragement for what to ask about.

In addition, if you have time, please consider responding to a question we will be discussing in the near future:

What is something you know for certain?  (and what makes you so sure?)

Please accept my apologies for my absence.  I am thoroughly enjoying working with your student this year.  This year will be a lot of fun.

If you have any questions, you can always reach out to me via email at bramand@

Moving into week three…

we are exploring knowledge by working to categorize knowledge and consider what the IB gods call knowledge claims.  Here are two readings – one on categorizing knowledge and another on knowledge claims from the first section of the ToK textbook.  Please read and consider this info to help you get a better understanding of the way the IB gods want you to think about knowledge.

The sequence should go:

  1. Read the section on categorizing knowledge and take notes
  2. Do the “Discussion Activity” on page 38; write down things you learned/realized
  3. Read the section on knowledge claims and take notes

You should complete through step 3 as homework if necessary.
